Description

LYCAONIA. Laranda. Circa 324/3 BC. Obol (Silver, 9x11 mm, 0.63 g, 6 h). Two jugate, diademed and bearded male heads to right; below neck, palm branch. Rev. ΛA - PAN Forepart of a wolf to right; in the field to left, monogram of ΠΑΡ; to right, star. Göktürk 64. SNG Paris 2311. Attractively toned and well-struck. About extremely fine.

Struck during the campaign of the satraps Balakros and Perdikkas against Laranda and the Isaurians; while Balakros was killed, it never-the-less ended badly for Laranda.
