KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 8 mm, 0.35 g, 3 h), a local imitative issue, uncertain mint in the East, perhaps in the Persian Gulf area, circa 280-250. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. [?] Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left. Price -. An intriguing little piece, with a very bold head of Herakles in a style that is close to, but not quite, a normal Greek one. Nearly extremely fine.
