Description

SICILY. Mamertinoi. 288-278 BC. Quadruple (Bronze, 29 mm, 19.56 g, 6 h). APEOΣ Laureate head of Ares to right; behind neck, lance head with point downwards. Rev. MAMEP -TINΩN Eagle standing to left on thunderbolt. Buceti 3. Cf. Calciati 7. HGC 2, 865. SNG Morcom 626. Bold and nicely centered with a dark patina - a large and impressive coin. Traces of cleaning, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
