Nude rider on horse galloping to right, holding a goad with his right hand and the reins with his left, but on the right side of the horse's neck; below horse, Λ. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Phalanthos, nude, riding dolphin left, holding an akrostolion in his right hand and resting his left on the back of the dolphin. Fischer-Bossert 352d (V162/R275, this coin ). HN Italy 850. SNG Ashmolean 249 ( same dies ).Vlasto 332-3. A particularly elegant and attractive coin, with both sides reminiscent of the tondo depictions on Attic Red Figure kylices. Minor flatness, otherwise, good very fine.
