Description

MEROVINGIANS, Aube. Troyes. Circa 620-640. Triens (Gold, 11.5 mm, 1.27 g, 11 h), Mummolinus, moneyer. [+TRICAS] Diademed and draped bust to right. Rev. [+MA]MOLENV[S FICI] Cross on two steps and globe; in the lowe field, to left and right, C-A. Belfort 4387 var. ( slightly differeing legend ). Depeyrot II, p.78, 4 var. ( same ). C. Adam, K. Meziane et N. Manios (2017), Deux triens inédits de Troyes au nom du monétaire CVNDOBERTVS : l’or troyen, essai de synthèse des noms de monétaires, fig. 13 ( for same reverse). Very rare and pleasing for type. Slightly rough surfaces and small die break on reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
