★ A Second Unminted Flan ★
MEROVINGIANS. Uncertain mint. Circa 7th century. Triens (Gold, 11 mm, 1.28 g). An unminted flan for the production of a Merovingian triens with both sides still blanc. For similar objects, cf. BM 1939,1003.39 and 1939,1003.38 (found at Sutton Hoo). Very rare. Somewhat rough surfaces.
