BYZANTINE SEALS. Alexios Apimpithium, Circa 2nd-3rd third of 12th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 24 mm, 6.65 g, 12 h). O/ A/ΓI/O/S -Γ/Ε/ΩΡ/ ΓΙ/Ο/S Nimbate St. Georgios standing facing, wearing military dress and holding spear with his right hand and sets with his left hand his shield on the ground. Rev. CΦΡΑΓΙC / AΛΕΞΙΟΥ / TOY ΑΠΙΜ/ΠΙΘΙΟYΜ in four lines within dotted border. DOC 55.1.3979. Wassiliou-Seibt, Metrischen, 2334. Overstruck on an earlier seal, otherwise, nearly very fine.
