Description

SICILY. Panormos (as Ziz). Circa 360-340 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.41 g, 7 h). Charioteer, wearing long chiton and holding a goad in his right hand and the reins in his left, driving a quadriga galloping to left; above, Nike flying right to crown the driver; in the field to left, over the horses' heads, star of eight rays. Rev. ziz Head of Kore-Persephone to left, wearing a wreath of wheat leaves, triple-pendant earring and a pearl necklace; below her chin, swastika to right; around, four dolphins. AMB 394. Jenkins, Punic 70. SNG Lloyd 1587. Toned and of fine style. Some roughness and minor marks, otherwise, very fine/about extremely fine.
