Description

GAUL. Massalia. Circa 90-50 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16.5 mm, 2.59 g, 6 h), Light Standard. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis to right, with three vertical leaves over her diadem, wearing triple-pendent earring, pearl necklace, and with her bow and quiver over her shoulder; in the field to right, monogram of ΤΛ. Rev. MAΣΣA Lion walking to right; in the field to right, Ε; in the exergue, ΠΗΑ. BN 1348-1349. F/Py DRM 55-54. Clear, well-centered and lightly toned. Some striking flatness, otherwise, very fine.
