Description

LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.84 g, 8 h). Head of Demeter to left, wearing grain wreath, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to left; above leaf, griffin charging to right; below leaf, ΛΥ. HN III 1589. Johnston Class C, 6. Lightly toned. About extremely fine.
