A ROMAN DANUBIAN RIDER LEAD VOTIVE PLAQUE Circa 3rd-4th century AD. Rectangular ‘Mystery Plaque’ with circular central medallion. In the corners surrounding the medallion, originally four busts (the four seasons or winds?). Within the medallion (from top to bottom): busts of Sol (left) and Luna (right), between them a female figure (Nemesis?), behind them a tripod table and a lion. In the main register, a facing goddess, flanked by two horsemen with their right hand raised, trampling on two prone men; behind them a further figure (left) and a bird and an eagle (right).
