A ROMAN BRONZE FIGURE OF AN EAGLE Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. The bird stands lofty on a round profiled base. The body is all over decorated with a mixture of an incised feather-like design and wavy lines to represent the plumage. The wings are partly spread with the tips crossed. The head features large eyes and a long, sharply hooked beak. An attractive piece from the Roman provinces. Nice patina. H 54 mm
