A FINE ROMAN BRONZE APPLIQUE BUST OF A MAENAD
Circa 1st-2nd century AD.
The female figure, most likely a Maenad, is wearing a chiton with two buttons at the shoulders. Her head is turned slightly to the left. Her hair is parted in the centre and encircled by an elaborate wreath of ivy leaves and berries. A further wreath, now fragmented, is framing the bust part of the figure. Both wreaths with remains of silvering. A hole in the back of her head.
