A BYZANTINE BRONZE RELIQUARY CROSS WITH CHRIST AND MARY
Circa 10th-12th century AD.
A reliquary cross (enkolpion) depicting Christ crucified on one side, and Virgin Mary with her hands upraised in prayer ('orans') on the other. The cross arms are further decorated with incised crosses and stars. Surface somewhat pitted; hinge axes probably repaired.
