A Cypriot Limestone Male Head with Helmet
Archaic Period, circa 6th century BC.
Head of a beardless male with almond-shaped eyes and long hair, wearing a conical helmet. The features are simple and stylised, typical for the Archaic Period. Probably from a statue. Somewhat worn and damaged. Mounted on a wooden base.
H 13.5 cm (head without base) From the estate of Ms. Johanna Raffler, Graz, acquired between 1980-2015. Purchased from James Murphy Coins & Antiquities; with an old printed label.
