Byzantine 1/4 Miliarense (963). Nicephorus II Phocas - Portrait Miliarense (963-969 AD). Constantinople mint. Av: +IhSUS XPISTUS NICA legend and star; cross crosslet on globe on two steps; in the centre of which is a four-lobed medallion containing facing crowned bust of Nicephorus with short beard; wearing loros; all within triple border interspersed with eight globes. Rev: + nICHF’ En XW AVTOCRAT’ EVSEb’ bASILEVS RWMAIW’ legend in five lines; cross of dots above and below; all within triple border interspersed with eight globes. Silver. DOC 6; Sear 1781.
