Flowing hair Liberty head on the right under the word LIBERTY., Denomination in letters and fractions, all within a circular chain., Very rare Flowing Hair Cent with periods after LIBERTY and the date! This is the scarcest major variety of all for this unique and fascinating 1793 type, with its chain symbol on the reverse, struck only one year and almost immediately discontinued as it did not illustrate to the public the value of Liberty enshrined on the obverse. Collector demand for this iconic type is enormous, both for its exceptional iconography and for what it represents as a milestone in American numismatics. We have here a widely circulated specimen, presenting a granular surface caused by environmental damages. The flan is slightly pitted, and shows visible edge blows at 1h, 2:30h, 3h, 6h and 9h, as well as a few small others on Liberty's hair, cheek and nose, and on the reverse in the right field. It is, however, a remarkably legible cent, for beyond the aforementioned flaws, Liberty's head still stands out clearly from the field, and one can even make out numerous details in the hair, eyes and nape of the neck. The word LIBERTY is particularly easy to read, and the date, although more faded, is still easy to make out. On the reverse, the chain - the most important element of this type! - and its contents are superbly preserved. The reverse legend, with the exception of the top part of the word UNITED, is still completely legible. For an affordable price for this type, which often flirts with the highest prices in the world of numismatics, it is therefore possible to treat yourself to one of the most important coins in American history, which despite its relatively poor overall condition, still offers complete general legibility and retains some of the most important details such as the floating hair and the chain on the reverse!, LIBERTY. / 1793., UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / ONE CENT 1/100

Il s'agit de la plus rare de toutes les variétés pour ce type unique et fascinant, avec son symbole de chaine au revers, frappé uniquement pour 1793 et très vite abandonné car n'illustrant pas aux yeux du public la valeur de Liberté inscrite au droit. La demande des collectionneurs est énorme pour ce type iconique, tant pour son iconographie exceptionnelle que pour ce qu'elle représente en tant que jalon de la numismatique états-unienne. Exemplaire ayant beaucoup circulé et étant fortement usé par son environnement. Le flan est piqué, on note des coups sur la tranche visibles à 1h, 2h30, 3h, 6h et 9h, ainsi que quelques petits coups sur la Liberté au niveau des cheveux, de la joue et du nez, ainsi qu'au revers dans le champ à droite. Il s'agit cependant d'un exemplaire remarquablement lisible, car au delà des défauts cités précédemment, la tête de la Liberté se détache toujours clairement du champ et on distingue même de nombreux détails dans les cheveux, les yeux et la nuque. Le mot LIBERTY est particulièrement bien lisible et la date, quoi que plus effacée, se laisse toujours aisément deviner. Au revers, la chaine - élément le plus important de ce type ! - et sont contenu sont superbement conservés. La légende de revers quant à elle, à l'exception du haut du mot UNITED, est encore complètement lisible. Pour un tarif accessible pour ce type flirtant souvent avec les sommets en terme de prix dans le monde de la numismatique, il est donc possible de s'offrir une des monnaies les plus importantes de l'histoire américaine, qui malgré son état global relativement médiocre, offre encore une lisibilité générale complète et conserve en partie les détails les plus importants que sont les cheveux flottants et la chaine au revers !, LIBERTY. / 1793., UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / ONE CENT 1/100
