Description

P. Licinius Nerva AR-Denarius (17.6 mm, 3.95 g, 4h). Rome mint, 113-112 BC.
Obv. Helmeted bust of Roma to left, holding shield, ornamented with a horseman galloping left and spear over shoulder; crescent above, ROMA upwards behind, mark of value before.
Rev. View of the interior of the comitium with the pons in the foreground. Three togate figures; figure on the left advances right to receive a tabella from the rogator figure in the center; figure on the right drops a tabella into a voting box or basket; P•NERVA above, tabella inscribed P in upper right field.

A highly pleasing example of this difficult issue. Unusually complete. Lovely old cabinet tone and about extremely fine.
