Description

MYSIA. Parium. Pseudo-autonomous. Time of Julius Caesar (Circa 45 BC). Ae.

Diademed and draped female bust right.
Rev: D - D.
Praefericulum (jug).

RPC I 2259; SNG BN 1416.

According to the sources, the prefericulum was a bronze vessel used for sacrifices, open at the top and resembling a pelvis without handles. In modern archaeology, the term is used to designate a jug that is almost always portrayed on funerary altars, sacred monuments, and coins alongside the patera and other worship tools

Condition: Very fine.
