Description

Sicily, Syracuse AR Didrachm. Deinomenid Tyranny. Time of Gelon I, circa 485-480 BC. Nude rider on horseback to right / Diademed head of Arethusa to right; ΣVRAKOΣΙΟN and three dolphins around. Boehringer 98 (V46/R66); SNG ANS 26 (same dies); Rizzo pl. XXXIV, 23 (same dies). 8.95g, 21mm, 1h.

Near Extremely Fine; light cabinet tone with an underlying lustre. Rare.
