Description
Umayyad Caliphate. al-Malik ibn Marwan, AH 65-86 / 685-705 AD. Fals (bronze, 2.48 g, 20 mm), 'Standing Caliph' type. Caliph standing facing, bearded, placing his right hand on the pommel of his sword and whip hanging from his right elbow; legend around. Rev. Transformed cross on four steps; Kuffic legend around. Repatinated, nearly very fine.
