Description

George III (1760-1820), silver proof Farthing, 1799, laureate and draped bust right, raised dot on shoulder, three berry wreath, date below, legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA REX, rev. Britannia seated left with olive branch, trident and shield, SOHO raised on rock to right, ship sailing right at left, legend BRITANNNIA above, 1. FARTHING. below, rosette stop either side, edge grained, 6.69g (Peck 1283; cf. S.3779). Uneven surface texture from past cleaning, some scratches, otherwise very fine, extremely rare.
