† Edward VI (1547-53), silver Sixpence and Base Penny, third Period [1550-53], Tower mint, sixpence, facing bust, mintmark tun, mark of value to right, rose to left, rev. long cross fourchee over quartered coat of arms; Base Penny, rose obverse, initial mark escallop, rev. coat of arms, long cross, civitas London, weights respectively 1.56g, 0.67g (S.2485; N.1940; S.2474; N.1945). Sixpence recorded as being repaired at the top with two small crease marks, once cleaned, very fine the other struck on an irregular flan, about very fine. (2)Provenance:
Ex Goldbergs, Auction 67, 31st January 2012, lot 4149 – for the sixpence, hammered for £300.
