Brettauer-2011. Diameter: 49mm. Weight: 30.93 gms. By J. T. Stettner. Obverse: Distressed family gathered around a tree; Reverse: Thanksgiving scene, with man receiving laurel wreath from child to right; above, Fama flying left, holding grain ear. Quite brilliant, with pleasing gray surfaces and great originality. The obverse and reverse shells open to reveal eight roundelles, four with double-sided color art and four with double-sided text conveying the famine and subsequent recovery. The inside of each shell also contains contemporary pricing charts for various foodstuffs. A very interesting and historic piece. Includes old collector's ticket.
