Undated Contemporary Counterfeit English Halfpenny. George III Type--Double Struck--Extremely Fine.
142.0 grains. Struck about 60% off center with an obverse indent as a result of a planchet that intervened between the obverse die and the already struck coin. The placement of the second strike has obscured the date of the primary strike, though the curious spalling resembling two diminutive periods before NIA will help to identify this die when a comprehensive die study of the counterfeit series is hopefully one day published.
