Three-Dollar Gold Piece
1857 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU-58 (PCGS).
A sharply defined, overall satiny example with orange-gold patina to both sides. The 1857 is among the scarcer early date Philadelphia Mint issues in the three-dollar gold series. Fewer than 500 coins are believed extant from a limited mintage of 20,891 pieces, the vast majority of which are in grades lower than that offered here.
PCGS# 7976. NGC ID: 25MA.
