Draped Bust Silver Dollar
1796 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-65, B-5. Rarity-4. Large Date, Small Letters. VF-25 (PCGS). CAC.
Attractive originality sets this coin apart from many mid grade early dollars in today's market. Warmly toned in a blend of dove and pewter gray, both sides also reveal soft powder blue and pale rose highlights. Isolated features are a tad soft, a function of both the strike and wear, but the overall detail is suitably bold for the assigned grade. Smooth surfaces with faint traces of original luster discernible with patience. The 1796 BB-65 is a desirable type variety in the brief and challenging Draped Bust, Small Eagle silver dollar series, and this handsome VF-25 is sure to sell for a nice premium. BB Die State IV.
