77 mm x 39 mm. 58.88 grams. Obv: Ship Nashville at anchor, inscription U.S.S. / NASHVILLE at upper right, all within corded border. Rev: Multi-line inscription ARRIVAL OF / U.S.S. NASHVILLE / IN CHICAGO HARBOR JUNE 5 1909 / FIRED FIRST SHOT / IN SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR / CHICAGO NUMISMATIC SOCIETY MEDALLIC SERIES 1909, all within ornamental border. As made apart from a few swirls of light toning that are more prevalent on the reverse. Housed in the original box of issue, which is a bit tattered on the outside, the lid separating from the base. Produced for the Chicago Numismatic Society in 1909 when Virgil Brand was president of the group. (Total: 1 plaque, 1 box)
