Description

Capped Bust Half Dollar

1828 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-103. Rarity-2. Curl Base No Knob 2. MS-62 (PCGS).

This gorgeous example possesses quality and eye appeal that are both (far) superior to what one might expect to see given the PCGS-assigned grade. Exceptionally vivid toning in cobalt blue, salmon-pink and reddish-orange decorate the peripheries, the centers brilliant apart from subtle olive overtones. The strike on the reverse is off center to 11 o'clock with scant denticulation along the upper left border on that side, but otherwise we note universally sharp detail throughout the design. Lustrous and satiny with an uncommonly smooth appearance in hand, this is a premium quality coin that is sure to sell for a strong bid.

PCGS# 6148. NGC ID: 24FR.

Estimate: $ 1000
