1880 Trade Dollar. Proof-64 Cameo (PCGS). CAC.

This beautifully toned piece is layered in iridescent silver gray, dusky rose and cobalt blue that is most vivid when viewed with the aid of a direct light. Bold field to device contrast is readily evident at all angles, and there are no detracting blemishes in evidence. This is a Proof only issue of the Trade dollar, with a modest mintage of 1,987 pieces. Not many retain the grade level or finer as noted here, and far fewer offer the desirable Cameo contrast between the fields and devices. A delight for the type or date collector who desires colorful toning combined with excellent surface quality.
