Liberty Head Eagle
1850-O Liberty Head Eagle. Winter-2. AU-50 (PCGS).
This olive-gold example exhibits brighter medium gold and golden-apricot highlights under a light. A touch of haziness is noted for accuracy, although plenty of satiny to modestly semi-prooflike luster remains and provides superior quality for an 1850-O eagle. From a mintage of just 57,500 pieces, the vast majority of which saw heavy commercial use. Given the rarity of Mint State survivors, upper end circulated examples such as this are in high demand among serious Liberty Head eagle and New Orleans Mint enthusiasts.
