Description

Draped Bust Cent

1807/6 Draped Bust Cent. S-272. Rarity-4+. Small 7, Blunt 1. AG-3.

A key variety for both Red Book and Sheldon collectors. The 1807/6 small overdate is well-known for being as condition sensitive as it is elusive. The offered specimen has much to recommend despite its low grade. The surfaces are above average, a smooth steel-brown with just some minor scratches on the face and reverse rim. The legends are worn but the all-important date is completely visible. A charming piece that will appeal to many collectors lacking this variety.

PCGS# 36439.

From the Bill Woytasek Collection. Earlier ex Jack Beymer; Roger S. Cohen, Jr.; Superior's February 1992 sale, lot 1032.

Estimate: $ 1000
