Counterstamps
W.D. RAPP in a box punch counterstamped on the obverse and of an 1823/2 Capped Bust dime, JR-3. Brunk R-79, HT-414G var. Host coin Good, but holed.
William D. Rapp was a Norristown / Philadelphia silversmith, jeweler and watchcase maker working from 1828 into the late 1850s. A well-known stamp from the Hard Times era. This is an unlisted example and the only one on a bust dime.
