Draped Bust Silver Dollar
1800 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-193, B-13, 18. Rarity-4. EF-40 (NGC).
A fully original, boldly toned example awash in even charcoal-gray patina. Impressively smooth in hand for the assigned grade, with universally bold to sharp detail remaining throughout the design. The 1800 BB-193, as we know the variety today, is one of the most plentiful die pairings of the date, and is about tied with BB-187 as the most common. An estimated 76 to 200 examples are known, a range that includes what used to be called Bolender-18, from the same dies, but a later state with clashing. Today, specialists recognize Bolender-18 as simply a later die state of BB-193. The present example is a former B-18 coin that corresponds to BB Die State III.
