Description

SINGAPORE. British East India Company. Keping, AH 1247 (1831). Soho Mint (Birmingham). Fighting Cock series. NGC MS-62 Brown.

KM-8.2; Prid-20; SS-26. Variety with split last tail feather. A popular early issue from Singapore, fighting cock tokens widely circulated among the local native population. Rich chestnut fields host gently mottled umber patina. With a distinct lack of handling, this historical issue dated to have been struck just twelve years after the founding of Singapore is strong for the grade.
