Dominant reddish-gray toning is a bit mottled in distribution on the reverse. Both sides also exhibit peripheral highlights in cobalt blue that further confirm the originality of this lovely specimen. Half dollar production in 1889 amounted to just 12,000 circulation strikes and 711 Proofs, all at the Philadelphia Mint. This condition rarity Gem Proof will draw bids from all directions.
