1860-S Three-Dollar Gold Piece. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC.
Warm orange-gold patina blankets both sides and accents overall bold definition. Faint remnants of satin luster are discernible upon close inspection, and a lack of singularly distracting abrasions is also a rare attribute in an 1860-S three. This is an elusive and conditionally challenging issue, the net mintage a mere 4,408 pieces after 2,592 examples were melted in the San Francisco Mint. This problem free Choice EF is finer than the typical survivor and would do nicely in an advanced gold cabinet.
