Description

JULIUS CAESAR. AR Denarius (3.67 gms), Military mint traveling with Caesar, 49 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.

Cr-443/1; CRI-9; Syd-1006. Obverse: Elephant advancing right, trampling upon horned serpent; Reverse: Emblems of the pontificate: simpulum, aspergillum, securis, and apex. Incredibly wholesome and appealing, this fairly well centered specimen presents a deep cabinet tone and is enchantingly free from the common issues that plague the type.
