Description

GREAT BRITAIN. Anglo-Saxon. Kings of All England. Penny, ND (ca. 1062-65). Uncertain mint and moneyer. Edward the Confessor. PCGS AU-55.

S-1183; N-830. Facing Bust/Small Cross (BMC xiii) type. Obverse: Crowned, draped, and armored bust facing; Reverse: Short cross pattee. This charming late Anglo-Saxon issuance is an attractive representative example with exceptional centering, a good dark color, and no signs of clipping or adjustment. Nearly as beautiful as when it was first struck almost a millennium ago.
