Description
1857-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 42-HH. VF-25 (PCGS).
Glints of peripheral reddish-rose blend with dominant deep honey-gold color. This is an attractively original example, and also a well defined and uncommonly smooth one in a mid grade Dahlonega Mint $5. From a mintage of just 17,046 pieces that suffered an expectably high rate of attrition for a pre-Civil War era Southern gold issue.
