Description
1793 Ship Halfpenny. Musante GW-20, Baker-18, Breen-1225. Copper. Lettered edge, PAYABLE IN ANGLESEY LONDON OR LIVERPOOL. EF-45 (PCGS).
29.7 mm. 164.2 grains. Glossy medium brown with traces of faded tan mottling. Slight roughness in the fields is as made and seen on both Martin Collection examples. Actual marks of handling are few, consisting of light wear and a couple of tiny abrasions. Quite attractive. Struck from a later state of the dies, with more pronounced sinking of the central reverse, a larger bulge in the rim near 5 o’clock and strong clash marks through the legends.
