VENEZUELA. Silver Venezolano Essai (Pattern), 1874. Paris Mint. NGC PROOF-63.
KM-E15; Stohr-E25. Plain edge variety. A piece of majestic import and charm, this Essai from the Paris Mint delivers an appeal and charm that is special to behold. Swatches of handsome deeply colored rainbow toning glamorize the surfaces, adding some fleeting artistic brushes to the subtle steely hue. The specially struck surfaces shine with a light gloss, and display only the slightest traces of friction. No knocks or incongruous marks marr the surfaces and the devices shimmer and glisten with a wholly unbroken hue. All Venezuelan Essais are RARE and desirable, however this example takes that dictum to an almost unheralded level. We were able to find no other examples of the plain edge type trading, making this a once in a generation offering. A piece that is assured induction into a heralded cabinet of Venezuelan coins, to be treasured as it was prior to this offering.
