ITALY. Campania. Neapolis. Fourree Didrachm (Nomos) (6.65 gms), ca. 275-250 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 3/5. Core Visible.
cf. HGC-1, 454; HN Italy-586 (same). Obverse: Head of nymph left; symbol behind; Reverse: Man-headed bull walking right; above, Nike flying right, placing wreath on bull's head. This fascinating contemporary forgery is exceedingly well-produced. The dies are of fine style and the silver plating is almost entirely intact and deeply toned.
