MACEDON. Under the Romans. AR Tetradrachm (16.74 gms), Amphipolis Mint, First Meris, ca. 167-149 B.C. NGC F, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.
HGC-3.1, 1103. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, with bow and quiver over shoulder; all set upon Macedonian shield; Reverse: Club right; monogram above, two monograms below; all within wreath; thunderbolt to left. A wonderful example with an excellently centered obverse, giving the coin its intended "Macedonian shield" appearance.
