LOKRIS. Lokri Opuntii. AR Tetrobol, ca. 300-275-BC. NGC EF.
HGC-4, 979; SNG Cop-62. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Ajax advancing right with sword and shield, trident to the right. This well-centered Tetrobol shows an attractive portrait of Athena and a sharply struck Ajax, with fine details such as his face and musculature visible. An elegant example with deep gunmetal toning.
