AEGINA. AR Stater (11.70 gms), ca. 470/65-445/40 B.C. NGC Ch F, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 2/5. Graffito, Countermark.
HGC-6, 435. Obverse: Sea turtle, with head in profile, "trefoil" collar, and "T-back" pelleted design on shell; Reverse: Thick skew pattern within incuse square. A lovely Stater that displays a high-relief turtle with all its appendages intact. A small countermark and some scratchy graffiti is noted on the left side of the obverse, and some slight granularity is present on the right side. The piece is otherwise quite impressive, with a round flan of quality silver, toned to a deep cabinet gray.
