Description

T-15. Confederate Currency. 1861 $50. PMG Very Fine 25.
No. 8078. Plate A. Hammer Cut Cancelled. Type 15 is one of the most popular types in Confederate Currency collecting and is part of the popular Southern Bank Note Company series. These were high quality notes printed by engraved steel plates on thick red fiber paper. The design features Ceres, goddess of agriculture at left, and Justice holding a sword and scales at right. A steam powered passenger train chugs past a waterfront in the central vignette. A bold vermillion tinted protector is centered near the bottom. The example offered here is an evenly circulated mid-grade note. Boldly inked design elements are sharply detailed on the wholesome paper of this challenging 1861 $50 note. One of the prettiest and most highly coveted of all Confederate types. PMG comments "Hammer Cut Cancelled".

Estimate: $2000.00- $4000.00
