The Buyer Funded, Black Address type was birthed from the transition between the pre-funded and buyer funded distribution models taking place during the first half of 2014. This transition was in response to federal requirements from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) related to Money Services businesses. Under the new buyer funded format, the coins were shipped from Lealana unfunded and buyers were responsible for sending the cryptocurrency to the coin's address themselves at a later time. The new buyer funded coins were produced with a green-colored address to denote this new format. However, a small group of 40 coins were issued with the outgoing black-colored address used for the pre-funded coins, creating an instant rarity. Parallels could be drawn between this variety and the treasured 1943 Lincoln cents struck in Bronze that captivate the imaginations of so many numismatists.
