Description

1795 Liberty Cap Cent. S-78. Rarity-1. Plain Edge. VF-30 (PCGS).
Bold to sharp mid grade detail for this challenging early copper type. The obverse has virtually complete denticulation, the reverse soft at the border from 3 to 9 o'clock, but not affecting any of the design elements to an appreciable degree apart from the letter N in UNITED, which is not present. Attractive autumn-brown obverse toning, the reverse is warmer copper-brown, and both sides are smooth for the grade with no marks of consequence. Highly desirable for circulated type purposes.
PCGS# 35729. NGC ID: 223T.

Estimate: $2000
