1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-130, T-8. Rarity-5-. Two Leaves. VF-25 (PCGS). CAC. OGH.
It is difficult to imagine a more visually appealing Flowing Hair half dollar at the VF grade level. Wonderfully original surfaces are warmly toned in "old coin gray" with warm olive-russet outlines to many of the design elements. Bold detail for the grade with wispy obverse handling marks, although the in hand appearance is impressively smooth. Despite the survival of a few Mint State and Choice About Uncirculated coins that make up the Condition Census for this variety, the 1795 O-130 is a scarce die marriage in an absolute sense that will prove challenging to locate under normal market conditions. We expect strong competition for this particularly desirable offering from discerning circulated collectors, so plan your bidding strategy accordingly. Tompkins Die Stage 2/3.
